BIO

Monica Schirmer Eshelman lives in Lindsborg with her husband, and creates with colored ink pens. She explores the joys and pressures of girlhood and womanhood, often with whimsy, sometimes in a poignant way.

She drew the official designs for Lindsborg’s Svensk Hyllningsfest 2019 and theme artwork in 2019, 2024 and 2025 for the Kansas Women Attorneys Association’s (KWAA) Lindsborg conference, and has done commission drawings celebrating judges, a mayor, special events and families.

Monica was born and raised in Wichita. Her father was an architect and her mother was gifted in handcrafts and music, so creative supplies were always readily available at home. When store-bought paper dolls didn’t have any big families, she started making her own, the more brothers and sisters the better. Her work still often has a paper doll quality. She also writes, does historical research and genealogy, and has acted with Broadway RFD (Lindsborg) and the Hutchinson Theatre Guild.
