“Tradition meets Modern”

The Claywork’s welcomes Dottie Evans, Andover, KS, as the featured artist for May 2025 in the Midtown Gallery. For Dottie, quilting is not a hobby or craft. For her, quilting is an art form and her life’s passion!  It’s a good day when Dottie can instill an appreciation for the art of quilting in at least one person’s heart.

With nearly 25 years of experience, Dottie has an eclectic mix of original art quilts, modern quilts and traditional quilts, ranging in size from wall hangings to bed size quilts.  Her first quilt, made in the mid 70’s was pieced together from scraps of fabric that her mother saved from the time Dottie was a baby up to her marriage. After completing the quilt Dottie never thought she would try quilting again. Fast-forward to 2001, a move to Manhattan, Kansas and a trip to a local quilt shop, and Dottie came back to quilting.

In 2022 Dottie retired from higher education. The following year she opened a quilting business called White Crane Designs. The business caters to quilters and non-quilters alike.  Communication is the cornerstone of her business. Dottie strives to make every quilt an expression of the recipient of the quilt.

A reception will be held Thursday, May 15th from 5 pm to 8 pm. Refreshments will be served. All are welcome.
